Jaiswal’s Blitz Helps India Dominate Bangladesh in 2nd Test

Kanpur – India unleashed an aggressive approach on Day 4 of the 2nd Test against Bangladesh, propelled by Yashasvi Jaiswal’s blistering 72 off 51 balls. Despite losing two full days to rain, India made up for lost time, reaching 138/2 at tea, trailing Bangladesh by just 95 runs.

After dismissing Bangladesh for 233, India’s top-order decided to attack right from the start. Jaiswal and skipper Rohit Sharma set the tone, hammering Bangladesh’s bowlers, and India brought up their team fifty in just three overs, marking the fastest in men’s Test cricket.

Rohit was equally destructive, hitting two sixes off the first two balls he faced. Despite his dismissal for 35, Jaiswal continued the assault, smashing a 31-ball fifty, and helping India reach their team hundred in 10.1 overs, the fastest ever in men’s Tests.

Earlier, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj wrapped up Bangladesh’s innings swiftly, taking the final four wickets for just 28 runs. Mominul Haque, who was left stranded on 107, carried Bangladesh’s hopes, but the rest of the lineup failed to provide any significant resistance.

With Ravindra Jadeja taking his 300th Test wicket, Bangladesh lost 7 wickets for 126 runs, conceding any advantage.

  • India 138/2, trailing Bangladesh by 95 runs
  • Yashasvi Jaiswal: 72 (51)
  • Shubman Gill: 37* (47)
  • Bangladesh all out for 233
  • Mominul Haque: 107* (the lone bright spot for Bangladesh)

With two sessions left in the match, India’s rapid run rate has put them in a strong position to push for a result, despite the weather setbacks.
