The Tesla Cybertruck, often touted by Elon Musk as the ultimate rugged vehicle ready for any apocalyptic scenario, has been facing some real-world challenges. From mud to sand to snow, it turns out the “indestructible” Cybertruck isnβt as invincible as its marketing might suggest.
π‘ “Help Mode”: Tesla’s Solution to a Stuck Situation
To address these sticky situations, Tesla engineer Wes Morrill floated an idea that could save Cybertruck owners from embarrassment: a “Help Mode” that provides step-by-step instructions for getting unstuck.
“No one is an expert the first time they drive off-road, but anyone can learn,” Morrill shared on X (formerly Twitter). He suggested implementing a “stuck detection” feature that would pop up helpful tips on the vehicle’s display when the truck senses it’s bogged down. This could include advice like airing down the tires, raising the ride height, or switching to a specific driving mode like “sand mode.”
This suggestion came in response to a viral video where conservative commentator Tucker Carlson got his Cybertruck stuck in the rugged woods of Maine, highlighting the need for such a feature.
π» The Cybertruck: A Tough Sell?
Despite the Cybertruckβs reputation as a beastly, go-anywhere machine, it seems that not all owners are seasoned off-roaders. In fact, many Cybertruck owners might be more interested in the vehicle’s tech-forward design or Musk’s personal brand rather than its rugged capabilities. Traditional truck enthusiasts have often scoffed at the Cybertruck, questioning its authenticity as a “real” truck.
Ever since the Cybertruck hit the roads, people have put it through the wringer, testing its durability with everything from flamethrowers to firearms. But while these extreme tests have gained attention, the real-world challenges of daily driving seem to be where the Cybertruck is faltering. For instance, reports have surfaced of its supposedly tough armor glass cracking under hail and the truck struggling with basic tasks like towing and driving through standing water.
π¬ Whatβs Next for the Cybertruck?
The potential “Help Mode” could be a practical addition, but it also raises questions about whether the Cybertruck was oversold in the first place. While the idea of a futuristic, indestructible vehicle captured imaginations, the reality has been less than stellar in some cases.
Still, Tesla fans remain hopeful that software updates and new features like “Help Mode” will enhance the Cybertruck’s performance and reliability in challenging conditions. Until then, it seems that some Cybertruck owners might want to brush up on their off-roading skillsβor maybe just avoid those rough terrains altogether.
