🚨 Home Ministry Blocks Mumbai Police from Taking Lawrence Bishnoi’s Custody πŸ’Ό

Despite being linked to high-profile crimes, including the Salman Khan firing incident and the murder of ex-Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi remains out of Mumbai Police’s reach due to a Home Ministry order. Bishnoi is currently imprisoned in Sabarmati Jail, Gujarat, and is protected from transfer by legal provisions under Section 268 of the CrPC.

Bishnoi was originally moved to Sabarmati Jail from Delhi’s Tihar Jail in August 2023 due to his involvement in a drug smuggling case. The Ministry of Home Affairs had issued a Section 268 CrPC order to restrict his movement for one year, citing potential threats to law and order if he were transferred. Although this order was supposed to expire in August 2024, sources confirmed that it has been extended for another year, blocking any attempts by law enforcement to secure his custody. 🚫

The Bishnoi gang rose to infamy after the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala in 2022. Led by Bishnoi’s brother Anmol, along with associates Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara, the gang has been implicated in several crimes:

  • Firing outside Salman Khan’s residence in April
  • Murder of Baba Siddique

Bishnoi’s gang’s vendetta against Salman Khan stems from the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, where Khan was allegedly involved. The blackbuck is sacred to the Bishnoi community, and Bishnoi had publicly threatened to kill the actor during a 2018 court appearance, promising to exact revenge in Jodhpur. πŸ‘€

After the shooting incident at Galaxy Apartments, the Mumbai Police have repeatedly attempted to gain custody of Bishnoi, but their efforts were consistently blocked due to the extended Section 268 order. Further complicating the case, a gang member in custody claimed that Siddique was killed due to his alleged links to Dawood Ibrahim and his close association with Salman Khan.

This case underscores the challenges faced by law enforcement in combating powerful criminal organizations, with Section 268 CrPC playing a pivotal role in shaping the legal battle.
